Cedar Point's opening day is May 12th and Six Flags has their opening day set for May 5th. Six Flags is the focus of my attention this year as they are putting in a new roller coaster!
I am a roller coaster nut! I love to ride roller coasters. Its one of my summer highlights. This year isn't going to be any different (I hope).
This year Six Flags is debuting a new coaster called X-FLIGHT.

I can't wait to ride this coaster. It's a newer design called a Wing Coaster and there are only 4 in the world. There are 2 in the US and 2 Europe.
A Wing Coaster puts the riders on a different kind of ride as riders have nothing below or above them!
So to me this isn't just a new coaster at some amusement park in America. This is a new kind of coaster. Here is a brief description:
"X-Flight will take riders on a flight that defies gravity, with no track above or below them. Riders sit in pairs, suspended on either side of the track with their feet dangling, as they begin their climb up a 12-story plunge launching them into speeds of 55mph through 3,000 feet of intense drops and five inversions, including a barrel roll and zero-g roll. One of the most adrenaline-pumping moments on the ride is an extreme fly-through where the coaster speeds straight toward a structure, before making a last-minute vertical flip to fit through a keyhole cut-out."

So this is why X-FLIGHT is my must ride coaster of 2012.
