Gas vs. Electric

So I have realized over the last couple of years that cooking on gas stove is different than cooking on an electric stove.

When we first got married we had a gas stove in our apartment. It was great because with gas you have an open flame and the heat is there when you turn on the burner and gone when you shut it off. But then we moved to Elkhart for a bit.

The apartment we moved to there had electric stoves in there apartments. So it took the burner a while to get hot to start cooking. But the part that caused us some trouble was when things were starting to burn. A gas stove you just turn off the burner and the heat is gone, but with an electric stove not so much. The burner has to cool down. So we burned things a few times and set the smoke alarms off a few times trying to get used to cooking on the electric stove.

Well, as you know we moved again to a new townhouse. We has a gas stove again!! However, we have set the smoke alarms off (both of them) because we forgot that the gas stove gets hot faster than the electric stove we had been cooking on for 2 years. So the first time we used the stove and the oven we had to readjust how we cooked. But I think we got that under control and we like gas stove a lot more.

I know that there are similar things with gas vs. electric and there are also differences. But I guess over all it is just your preference.
