That's The Point

So on Tuesday May 14th Sunnshyne and I took our trip to Cedar Point. We like to go in May because the crowd is smaller. We were not able to go last year because we were expecting our little boy Emmerson.

Anyway we brave the chance of it being freezing cold and we go. It's kind of our thing.

I mentioned in a Facebook status a few weeks ago that I hope to be able to ride GateKeeper, Cedar Point's new winged coaster, and I would tell you about it. But when we got there GateKeeper was closed and stayed closed for most of the day.

So we rode this first....

The line was really short (because everyone else was over at GateKeeper finding out that it was closed) and we got right on. My eyes almost froze shut because they watered up and it was a little cold.

Then we went toward the back and rode...

Maverick!!! It's a fun little coaster!

We had a great day together even though we didnt get to ride GateKeeper. That's the point!
We rode everything else and in pretty good time for being at Cedar Point.

I did however get to ride a Winged Coaster but that story is for another time.

Totally Unexpected And in An Unexpected Place part 5

So Sunday I had my 3rd interview with Evangel Heights. I finally heard back from them yesterday afternoon and posted this to Facebook...

JOB UPDATE: I am at Six Flags today but I wanted to let you all know this... they felt like my interview was not fair because I was #3 after they had already done 2 other interviews. So they want me to come back on Thursday night!

So I guess getting another opportunity is a good thing. They felt as if the interview was not as good as could have been for me since I was the 3rd one over a time span of 3 hours.

So I am going back tomorrow at 6:30pm for the 2nd 3rd interview!! This is the final interview.

So will I have a new job by the end of the week?? Check back later as this story comes to a close... hopefully by the end of the week!!!

Totally Unexpected And in An Unexpected Place part 4

So for those that might have missed the facebook posts that I have been posting here is an update on the Youth Pastor position I have on the table...

My interview got moved to this past Monday Night. The interview went well.

They told me that I would here back from them within the next couple of days or even later that night.

Well, I heard back from them the next morning when I woke up. It was great news!! They wanted me to come back for a 3rd interview with them!!

So the 3rd interview is on Sunday afternoon at 4pm. This could be the last interview in the process, but I do not know for sure. This interview is with the hiring staff of the church.

Totally Unexpected And in An Unexpected Place part 3

So as I said in the last part of this story, I said that I would have more in 2 weeks because that is the time frame that the church gave me.

Well, I am excited to announce that they have ALREADY gotten back with me! We have scheduled a face-to-face interview for next Wednesday night at 630. So if all goes well with this interview there is one more after that with the hiring staff of the church.

So keeping checking back for more information.

Zonked Out

I know this is going to sound bad. But Emmerson is in his playpen screaming at the top of his lungs for no apparent reason other than he is extremely tired and needs to go to sleep.

Why do they fight it?? Why don't they just go to sleep?? I know he is very tired. He didnt get a nap today or the nap he did get wasn't a very long one. I guess this is a question that all parents ask themselves. Maybe the child is afraid that he is going to miss something if they shut their eyes for a little bit.

I guess we will never know why. But eventually they give in a zonk out.

Oh and by the way Emmerson is zonked out!

Totally Unexpected And in An Unexpected Place part 2

So here lately I have been very busy and I really haven't been blogging very much.

I have a lot of backed up thoughts and things to tell you so keep looking out for those.

But right now I want to give you an update on a post that I posted on March 12th. Here is that post in case you missed or need to be refreshed. I didn't realize that it was that long ago since I posted about this :)

Totally Unexpected And in An Unexpected Place

So I got this random e-mail from a random person on an e-mail account that I have not really given out. 

Friday I received an e-mail from a guy (Joe) that I don't know on my school account that I don't give out it is just listed on my facebok. The e-mail said that he got my name from a guy that he works with. The guy he works with goes to my old church and I haven't spoke to him or seen him in over 3 years. Joe's email continued by saying that he is a member of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church and that they are looking for a Youth Pastor and he said that he was told to contact me because I might be interested. 

I AM INTERESTED!!! was my reply to his e-mail and we spoke briefly on the phone and he said that he give all my information to his Senior Pastor. 

On Monday I got a phone call from the Senior Pastor and we talked for a little bit and he told me that they are still in the very beginning of the process and being so close to Easter they were not going to be doing anything official with the position until after Easter had passed. He told me to send him my resume and that we will go from there. 

So it isn't an official position or anything but it is another opportunity that came really out of the blue. This was totally unexpected and in an unexpected place. I have not been applying for any positions since I started school so this was totally a surprise.

One other thing that he told me gave me a little bit of hope was that someone once took a chance on him. I told him that I was just getting started that I was still in school and really have no experience at all with my own group. I told him that I just looking to get started with the first chance and opportunity. That is when he said that someone took a chance with him and the rest is history. 

I hope he takes that same kind of chance with me.

So last Monday I received a phone call from the Pastor of Evangel Heights! I was excited to finally here from him. It had been so long since we talked last I thought maybe he had dismissed me just as other pastors have done after they take a second and looked over my resume. The experience is always where they draw the line. But we talked over the next half an hour or so. He then told me the next steps of the process.

He said that he was going to meet with the church board and discuss the applicants and see who they were going to be bringing in for a face-to-face interviews. He said that he would notify me in about 2 weeks to let me know if they decided to bring me in for a face-to-face or not. (If I get the face-to-face there is still one more interview to go.)

So that is where I am with this. I am waiting again to see what the church decided. I have a strong passion for this and because I am still in school this would be a good way to gain experience in the field.
