I went to change Emmerson's diaper around 1130am. I noticed that there was blood in his diaper and so we took him straight to St Joe Hospital.
They told us that his potassium level was to high and sodium level was to low and that they were going to admit him. They came back shortly thereafter and told us that he couldn't stay at St Joe he had to be transported to Memorial Hospital's PICU.
We get there and they tell us that his potassium being that high can mess with his heart and his sodium being that low can cause him to have seizures. But they quickly balanced that out.

We got nothing but great news!! He was eating and his potassium and sodium levels were right. Everything was good. Then Friday came along.

I had to work. Just as I was getting ready to pull into the parking lot I get phone call from Sunnshyne and I could tell that she hadn't received good news. So I hurried up to the room and she said the he has a UTI and that his kidneys were inflamed. Then she told me that they need to do a spinal tap on him to make sure that there was no infection in his spine as that could be deadly to him.
We also found out that there was a blockage in his urethra that was causing him not to fully empty his bladder. They told us that it may require surgery to correct that.
That wasn't the best of news to get early in the morning. But the tests finally came back and he has no infection in his spine or in his blood.

We found out this morning that he indeed needed surgery on this blockage. The doctor explained the blockage to us. She said it was like a valve that was opening and closing causing his some of his urine to back flow into his kidneys causing them to get inflamed and him to get a UTI. In order for his treatment to continue and the surgery to happen he has to go to Riley's Children Hospital in Indianapolis. The doctor told us that she would like this all to happen tomorrow morning. So tomorrow at Noon we will be heading down to Indy for at least a weeks time maybe more.
This is going to be a hard time for us a family as we have to leave our daughter Brooklynn behind and then (because life doesn't stop) I have to return to work on Thursday. So I will have to leave Sunnshyne and Emmerson in Indy so I can come back to work.
So we appreciate everyone's support and prayers during this unexpected storm and bump in life. I want to leave you with two verses...
